What Actually Drives the Price
The diamond is the variable. The setting rarely is.
On most engagement rings, the center diamond — not the metal — accounts for the majority of the final price. That is why we price the setting and the stone separately: you see exactly what you are paying for each, instead of one blended number that hides the markup.
It is also why your single biggest cost lever is choosing between a lab-grown and a natural diamond. At an identical cut, color, clarity, and carat, a lab-grown diamond typically costs 60–80% less than a natural one — the same look, a very different total.
The four Cs explain the rest of the spread. Cut is the largest driver of how a stone returns light; clarity and color move the price far less than most buyers expect once a diamond is eye-clean and near-colorless.
That is the logic behind the standard we publish: we hold every diamond to Triple Excellent cut, VS2-or-better clarity, and D–H color — the band where quality is visible to the eye and additional spend stops being visible at all. See the full criteria →
Methodology
Setting counts, starting prices, and style distribution on this page are generated directly from our live Shopify catalog each time the page loads — they are not entered by hand and cannot fall out of date. Diamond price comparisons reference our certified inventory and published independent grading data. The lab-grown-versus-natural range reflects equivalent-specification stones (same cut, color, clarity, and carat).
